Through The Eyes of Our Customers - Conversation with Mag. Martin Schmidradler, Head of Generali Academy Sales

Q: What led you to change your education process and make it more playful and entertaining? Why did you choose this method?

A: We want to motivate young people to come and work for us, to build their careers with us, through a modern form of learning. The new entrant's training aims to train more insurance advisers. Your system makes the hard-to-digest course material fun and can be used in parallel with our classroom training.

Q: How much do you think the gamified system has made it easier to learn the material?

A:. They learn the material through various quizzes on the online platform, and put their knowledge into practice by completing real-life activities. The "icing on the cake" is that they do all this in a motivating and entertaining environment, where they collect points, test their skills against each other in duels, and see who the current best in the team is. The fact is that 75% of our users answer correctly to the questions asked in the system.

Q: What metrics or methods have you used to measure the platform's success?

A: We have additional exams (outside the system) to test the knowledge level of the participants. Besides in the platform, we continuously monitor performance, for example, the level of understanding of the course material per module. These metrics allow us to see who needs what at a given time and so we can provide appropriate support. We also filter by regions and sales areas to see which of them need more support.

Q: What was your personal favorite element of the system?

A:What I liked the most about the system was the combination of quizzes to deepen your knowledge and real-life workplace tasks. It is both fun, and the simulation exercises prepare the staff for similar situations.

Q: Are the users who participate in this innovative educational process typically new recruits or "old hands" in the business?

A: Only new hires are on the system and use it for about the first year. This does not mean, of course, that we are not considering expanding and using the system more widely. We want to create a learning experience that motivates employees in the long term. And thanks to constantly updated content and new features, it ensures continued engagement.
